The worldwide Fiber Optic Sensing (FOS) market is expected to grow by 7.3% per year until 2030. Taiwan and the Netherlands are well poised to benefit from and contribute to this growth, and are already working together extensively. Current big markets are civil engineering and oil and gas, but how can the industry profit from new developments such as smart cities, internet of things, and circular economy? How about applications in health? At the same time, exciting new developments such as photonic integrated chips and increasingly diverse principles of measurement, like Rayleigh scattering, create opportunities from the technology side. The aim of this year’s conference is to look forward to the next 5-10 years and to discuss what innovations to focus on in both countries, and where further collaboration is possible.
